The Toyota Sequoia, built by Toyota, is based on their Tundra pickup truck. It is a full-size SUV that was introduced in 2000 for the 2001 model year. The Sequoia was nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award for 2001. Also, it filled the gap when the Land Cruiser was dropped in the Canadian market in 1995. The Sequoia is built at Toyota’s Princeton, Indiana truck assembly plant. Currently, it is sold exclusively in the United States and Canada.
The Sequoia’s full production started in late 2000 as a 2001 model but was previously shown in car shows in 1999 and 2000. The engine, driveline, and some sheet metal components are shared with the Tundra truck. It also shares the same basic chassis, with the exception of rear disc brakes and a more sophisticated multi-link live axle rear suspension. It received some cosmetic updates in the 2005 model and gained a more powerful engine equipped with VVT-i, LED-backlit gauges, as well as a 5-speed automatic transmission, replacing the previous 4-speed. The Sequoia is a little longer than the Land Cruiser; but it is barely noticeable. When it was introduced, it was similar to the size of the Ford Expedition and its V8 engine was certified as Ultra Low Emission Vehicle. Dana Corporation produces the frame assemblies and drive shafts.
The Sequoia comes in two trim levels; SR5 and Limited. You can get the Sequoia in both four-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive versions.Options, Features, & Specifications
